Welcome to the Online Application Portal for the Postgraduate School (Umaru Musa Yar'adua). Through this portal, you can make your registration payment and fill the Applicatin Form. You can edit your Application, view your Application profile, upload your scanned documents i.e your credentials, and check your Application Status to know if you have been admitted. Follow the Order:
  1. Logon to http://portal.umyu.edu.ng/pgapplication/
  2. Read the Qualification Criteria.
  3. Click on 'Register' above to fill the registration form. Ensure you type the PIN Code obtained from the bank correctly NOTE: Registration is to be done once. If you have registered before just Login to continue filling your form.
  4. On successful registration, you will receive a success email from 'The Umaru Musa Yar'adua'.
  5. Click on 'Login' to login, and follow the steps below make payment.
    • Step 1: Click on payment button
    • Step 2: Select any of the following  PAYMENT MODE OPTION AVAILABLE

      This option enable you generate TID and pay cash over the Bank counter at Fidelity Bank or any of the participating Banks listed below:

  6. After a successful payment, Click on 'Login' to login, then you can start filling the forms.
  7. Edit your Application Profile (This will require a passport photo and your biodata).
  8. Edit your Institution Attended.
  9. Edit your Qualifications (WASSCE, and other Certificates are entered here).
  10. Select your choice of Service and Course.
  11. Edit/Upload Documents (Attach your Certificates here). The next section (Declaration and submission of form) will not be displayed untill all sections have been filled correctly.
  12. Select your choice of Programe and Course.

  14. Print your Admission Form Card and Profile Form.

ADMISSIONS INTO FULL-TIME POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2016/1217 ACADEMIC SESSION

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  1. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA       

The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities;
  2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of lower credit pass (CGPA 3.00) on a 5 point scale or its equivalent in relevant areas;
  3. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) without Education obtained at credit level with a three years relevant postgraduate experience;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.
  5. Candidates with third class degree in areas other than Education can be considered after three years relevant postgraduate experience. Those in the Education may be considered in their area of specialization;
  6. All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.
  1. MASTER’S DEGREE

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: -

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors degree with at least Second-Class Honors (CGPA 3.00) on a 5 point scale. Candidates with Second-Class Lower who do not make up CGPA of 3.00 must possess a Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized institution with at least a credit level pass (CGPA 3.50) in relevant areas.
  2. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

The following shall qualify for Professional Masters’ degree admission:

  1. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a lower credit pass (CGPA 3.00) at a scale of 5 and at least a credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma (CGPA 3.50) of a recognized Institution;
  2. Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division who have at least five years relevant working experience.
  3. MASTER OF PHILOSOPHY (M.Phil)

The following shall qualify for Master of Philosophy admission: -

  1. Graduates of Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale shall be required to register for M.Phil/Ph.D and must score a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5 point scale to proceed for Ph.d in the proposed area.
  1. DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:

  1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree with CGPA of 3.50 in the appropriate  proposed areas of study;
  2. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained Masters of Philosophy degree with CGPA of 3.00 on a 5 point scale to proceed for Ph.D in the appropriate  proposed areas of study;
  3. Candidates must possess at least a Bachelors degree in Second Class lower division (CGPA 3.00) on a 5 point scale;
  4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University;
  5. Candidate must state the proposed area of Research and submit a synopsis of not less than 500 words of the proposed topic of research.

Matriculation Requirement:
In addition to A, B, C and D above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements i.e five credit passes at the O’level to include English and Mathematics.

Selection Process:
All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

Method of Application
Interested candidates for all the Postgraduate Programmes can apply online via the University website (www.umyu.edu.ng) from  Monday, 7th November, 2016 to 31st December, 2016.

The procedures of payment of application fees (N10, 500) are available at www.umyu.edu.ng.

All candidates are expected to request their previous institutions to forward copies of their academic transcripts accompanied by Form B, to the Secretary Postgraduate School, Umaru Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina.
